Venue fact sheet · Wan Chai

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is the big exhibition and convention centre on the Wan Chai harbourfront in Hong Kong. This sheet gathers the practical facts for a visit from the sources that actually publish them: the venue's own visitor and barrier free pages, its House Rules for Visitors, its Muslim friendly page, and the ticketing platforms that sell its events.

Nearest station
MTR Exhibition Centre Station and Wan Chai Station are each within a 10 minute walk, and so is the Wan Chai ferry pier.
Doors and entry
The venue publishes no fixed daily opening hours for visitors. Its House Rules set the access pattern: Public Circulation Areas are usually open to the public, Licensed Areas are for invited guests and ticket holders only, and back of house areas are closed to the public. Doors and entry for a given event are set by that event.
Bags
No maximum bag size or weight is published. The venue's House Rules give the venue the right to inspect any bag brought in, but state no size or weight limit, and no visitor cloakroom is published to fall back on (see Cloakroom and lockers).
Cloakroom and lockers
No visitor cloakroom is published. The venue offers a cloakroom service to event organisers through its housekeeping service, but no walk-up cloakroom, location, hours or price for individual visitors is published.
Tickets and ID
Tickets are sold per event, not by the venue. Platform terms (Cityline): the name on the confirmation email must match the attendee's Hong Kong ID card or passport, photo plus full English name, or ticket collection can be denied with no refund; that is a platform term applied at collection, not a standing HKCEC entry rule. The confirmation email is not admission: exchange it at the venue box office for official tickets. Some Cityline events use QR e-tickets instead. At the HKTDC Book Fair, held here, e-tickets are sold via ticketing partners and at 7-Eleven and Circle K stores.
Not allowed
Under the venue's House Rules for Visitors (July 2025), compliance is a condition of admission. Not allowed: controlled drugs; dangerous or hazardous materials, including flammable gas; drones and remote devices; air horns, megaphones and laser pointers; balloons in public areas; outside food and drink; animals other than guide dogs; and personal transporters, wheelchairs excepted.
Children
The venue publishes no standing age rule; age terms are set per event. Per event example, the HKTDC Book Fair at HKCEC: a child ticket applies to primary school students and to children under 1.2 m tall, and children aged 3 and under enter free. That is a Book Fair ticket rule, not an HKCEC rule, and it rests on HKTDC's own announcements (see Sources).
Accessibility
Major entrances are ramped, and spacious guest lifts accommodate wheelchairs. Tactile guide paths run at two main entrances, with a braille directory and a teleloop system, and guide dogs are welcome. An electric wheelchair charging point sits next to the HK Ticketing Box Office at the Harbour Road Entrance. Specially designed toilets are provided. This is an exhibition and convention centre with no fixed auditorium seating, so there is no accessible viewing seat to book; reserved parking bays for drivers with disabilities are provided in the two adjacent car parks.
Prayer and halal food
Prayer room: yes. Separate prayer spaces for male and female users are on Level 2, marked with the direction of Qibla and equipped with prayer mats; the restrooms next to the prayer room have ablution facilities and hand showers. The venue holds CrescentRating Gold certification as a Muslim friendly MICE venue, first awarded in 2024. Halal food: yes. Halal certified food is provided at concession stands during events, and the food and beverage team can provide tailor made halal menus on request.
Last trains home
The venue publishes no last train guidance, and MTR publishes last train times for Exhibition Centre and Wan Chai stations only through its own service hours tool, so no time is printed here. Check the last trains on MTR's site before a late event; see the gaps note below.

Luggage storage near the venue

There is no Bounce point inside the centre, and the nearest one is not quite next door: Bounce lists a storage point at 22 Fleming Road in Wan Chai, about 570 m from the centre in a straight line and longer on foot, from HK$35 per bag per day. The exact address is given when you book.

For the staffed counters at the airport and Hong Kong Station, and every other option across the city, see our luggage storage page.

What is not published

Checked and not published, as of 3 November 2026: a maximum bag size (the House Rules allow bag inspection but set no dimension); a visitor cloakroom (cloakroom service is offered to event organisers, not published for individual visitors); a stroller rule; and last train times, which MTR publishes only through its own service hours tool rather than as a citable page. We asked HKCEC about bag size, a visitor cloakroom and strollers directly on 3 November 2026; any reply will be added here, dated. We show the gaps rather than fill them from third party guides.
