Who is responsible for your data

Hong Kong Happenings (hongkonghappenings.com) is published by Maison V Group LLC, a limited liability company registered in Delaware, United States. What we collect and why

Newsletter signups. If you subscribe, we collect your email address so we can send you the Hong Kong Happenings newsletter, about one email a month. Signups are stored in a Cloudflare data store and forwarded to our team mailbox so we can manage the list. The newsletter is sent by MailerLite. We keep subscriber addresses while you remain subscribed and delete them when you unsubscribe, apart from a suppression record kept so we do not email you again. We never sell or share the list.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 and Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Google Analytics sets cookies (including _ga) that distinguish one browser from another; Cloudflare Web Analytics uses a lightweight beacon and does not track you across other sites. Neither gives us your name or email address. Analytics runs on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and improving the site; where the law requires consent for analytics cookies, we will ask for it.

Server and security logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes connection data, including IP addresses, in server and security logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Those logs are held by Cloudflare under its own privacy terms.

Affiliate clicks. If you click a booking link marked as an affiliate link, the partner (such as Klook, Trip.com or KKday) may set a cookie on your device so a resulting booking can be attributed to this site. That happens on the partner's site, under the partner's privacy policy. We receive commission reports in aggregate and do not receive your name or payment details from partners.

Event submissions and contact messages. If you submit an event or send the contact form, we store what you send (including your contact email) in a Cloudflare data store and forward it to our team mailbox, and use it only to handle the submission or enquiry.

Emails you send us. If you write to us, we keep the message for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry.

Sharing

We share personal data only with the service providers named above (Cloudflare for hosting, analytics and signup storage; Google for analytics; MailerLite for sending), each acting on our instructions, and where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

International transfers

Maison V Group LLC is based in the United States and our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where data about people in the UK or the European Economic Area is transferred, it is covered by the provider's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict its use, and complain to your data protection authority. California residents can ask what categories of personal information we collect and can ask us to delete it; we do not sell personal information. Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect children's data.
